EGS is pleased to announce that EGS Solutions are now compatible with Chinese and Japanese languages. These two languages join other languages available to EGS Solutions which are English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Dutch. EGS aims to serve cost-effective foodservice solutions to the most number of clients around the world. Having its software programs in Chinese and Japanese creates a wider market in Asia. EGS Solutions Compatible to Windows 7
EGS is proud to announce that EGS Solutions version 10.6 is now compatible to Windows 7. This version can still work with other operating systems of Microsoft such as Vista and XP. EGS Solutions can be installed, uninstalled and will run without problems under the latest operating system from Microsoft.

EGS can now host CALCMENU and F&B Control
Nowadays, people are always on the move. Business is done not only inside the office but in other places such as in a restaurant, coffee shop, airports, malls, library, etc. As more and more people are away from their offices and still want to do their work, EGS is proposing a new system of accessing recipe and back office management programs for the foodservice industry.

EGS can now host CALCMENU and F&B Control programs for clients. With this new system, CALCMENU and F&B Control are installed in the EGS server. Clients can access these programs even if they are away from their office. With the use of a username and password, a client can access CALCMENU and F&B Control via the remote server computer. The programs need not be installed in the computer which the client is using.

EGS will do all the installation and maintenance work of CALCMENU and F&B Control. Clients can access these programs anywhere and there is no need to worry about updates, upgrades, backups, installation issues, etc. EGS will do all of these for the client.

Track Products with Lot Management (Traceability)
EGS announced that the Lot Management Module is now available in F&B Control. The Lot Management Module in F&B Control is a complete traceability system that fits the varying requirements of the foodservice industry. It answers the guidelines of the government and different agencies about food safety with the use of a traceability system.

With Lot Management, you can easily track a product back to its origin. The products delivered to your company will be listed by priority. The product listed first will be used completely before products listed later are used. This is very important in ensuring food safety. Products, especially quickly perishable ones like meat, fruits, and vegetables, delivered first to your company will be the products that will be used first in production. Also, if there are product recall notices, you can easily track down the lot where the product came from and you can identify to which customers the questionable lot was sold.

FIFO - A New way of calculating prices in F&B Control
EGS included a new way of calculating prices in F&B Control called First In, First Out (FIFO). FIFO is a common method for recording the value of inventories. When products are sold, the cost of the sold items is based first on the oldest item in the storage. FIFO presumes that the next item to be shipped will be the oldest of that type in the warehouse. In practice, this usually reflects the underlying commercial substance of the transaction, since many companies rotate their inventory (especially of perishable goods). F&B Control is now capable of using that method of calculation.

FIFO is an optional feature and an additional fee applies for this feature.

EGS Solution version 10.3 is now available!
  EGS announced the release of the latest version of EGS Solutions. Version 10.3 of CALCMENU Chef/Pro/Enterprise and F&B Control is now available for update.

In CALCMENU, EGS developed a way to export menu plans to MS Excel. A new check box called Import as text even if ingredient exists is added when Importing Recipes. If this check box is unchecked, CALCMENU will import recipe ingredients which do not yet exist in the Merchandise List in Text format while the rest of ingredients will be automatically linked with existing merchandise. This saves you time since you don’t need to link all ingredients from an imported recipe. You can let CALCMENU find which imported ingredients could be linked to existing merchandise and link matching ingredients and merchandise.

In F&B Control version 10.3, the Wine Management Module is added and Inventory Transfer is now allowed. EGS also included First In, First Out (FIFO) as a new type of price. FIFO is an optional feature and an additional fee applies for this feature.

Export CALCMENU Web Data to MS Excel
EGS developed a new feature in CALCMENU Web to export merchandise, recipes and menus to Excel 2003 and 2007. Users can select the details which will be included in the export. Exporting data to Excel allows users of CALCMENU Web to modify and update details such as Number, Yield, Source, Selling price, Imposed Price, Tax, etc. The exported file can be saved, sent to e-mail and printed.

CALCMENU Web now has Active Directory
EGS added a new technology in CALCMENU Web called Active Directory. Active Directory is a directory service used on Microsoft Windows based computers and servers, such as CALCMENU Web, that stores information and settings in a central database.

Active Directory enables users to easily access CALCMENU Web. When a user is included in the Active Directory, he can immediately use CALCMENU Web in his computer without the need to type the login username and password. This allows easy access to information stored in CALCMENU Web. However, if that user uses another computer to access CALCMENU Web, he would not be able to access his account. Instead, the CALCMENU Web account of the computer’s owner will be displayed.

Active Directory only works in a network environment and is configured by the Administrator.

Wine Management Available Soon in F&B Control
EGS announced that the Wine Management Module will be available soon in F&B Control. This optional module is developed for managing your wine inventory. You can store wine attributes, such as producer, variety, origin and vintage. These attributes can be used to search for wines. The Module also allows you to print your wine list.

Import Products from Sysco USA and Sysco Canada using F&B Control, CALCMENU Pro and Enterprise
EGS developed a new feature that allows users to import products from the largest foodservice distributor in North America, Sysco. Users can now select whether to import merchandise/products from Sysco USA or Sysco Canada. This feature is developed for CALCMENU Pro/Enterprise and F&B Control. With this feature, you can easily update prices of your merchandise or products using the latest price list exported from Sysco. You can also update your merchandise/product list.

You need to login first to the Sysco website and download the latest pricelist. Once you have the file, you can import it to CALCMENU Pro/Enterprise or F&B Control and automatically update your items and prices. This makes your task faster and more accurate.



Importing from Supplier Networks such as Sysco is an optional feature of CALCMENU Pro/Enterprise and F&B Control. An additional fee applies for this feature. Contact us at info@eg-software.com if you want to subscribe to this feature.

Manage Attachments in EGS Solutions
Attaching any type of file can now be done in CALCMENU Chef/Pro/Enterprise and F&B Control. EGS developed the attachment function so you can attach any files to when creating or modifying items in the program. You may attach Word, PDF, or AVI files which have additional information about the merchandise, recipe, menu, product or finished good. With the attachment function, you can view files associated with the item such as health benefits of merchandise, cooking techniques, information on alternative ingredients, etc. For example, you may attach a Word file about the origin of a recipe ingredient and what you can use as an alternative for it.

Translate Purchasing Information in F&B Control
  Users of F&B Control can now encode translations of Terms, Contact details, Category, Unit, Supplier, Product, and Purchase Order. EGS announced that the Translation Feature is now available in the Purchasing Module of F&B Control. With the Translation feature, you will be able to translate specific details for non-English speaking staff and customers. This is to ensure that persons who are not familiar with the English language will be able to comprehend details in the Purchasing Module.

Recipe websites that have recipes compatible with CALCMENU
  EGS created recipe websites wherein you can download recipes which are compatible with CALCMENU programs. You can download from and also upload your recipes to Recipegallery.com, Recipecenter.com and Realcooking.com. These websites contain a variety of recipes from professional chefs, cooking enthusiast, site visitors, etc. EGS also made it possible for CALCMENU users to upload their recipes to the said websites so you can share your recipes to site visitors around the world.

EGS also developed recipe websites for the German and French speaking site visitors. For the German recipe websites, EGS has Rezeptbuch.ch which contains more than 3,000 recipes from professional chefs and Rezeptzentrum.com which has more than 30,000 recipes contributed by the website’s users and visitors.

For the French recipe websites, EGS has Recettes.ch which contains hundreds of recipes provided by professional chefs while Centrerecettes.ch has more than 10,000 recipes in its database.

Soon, EGS will launch a recipe website in Italian. There will also be a website dedicated to cocktails where you can download cocktail recipes.

EGS Solution 2009 is now available!
  EGS announced the release of EGS Solution 2009, the latest version of CALCMENU Chef/Pro/Enterprise and F&B Control. EGS developed new features and enhanced existing functions for this version.

In CALCMENU, there is a new option which allows you to assign unique numbers to merchandise, recipes and menus to avoid duplicates when identifying items in the program. There is now an option to use a menu plan as a template for other menu plans. Templates makes it easier for users to create menu plans since it allow users to use the structure of another menu plan including meals, proposals and menu items.

In F&B Control, Lot Management is now available. This module answers the guidelines of the government and different agencies about food safety with the use of a traceability system. EGS also developed several features in the Production module such as Multiple Dates of Completion and Rollback Production.

EGS added eSysco USA in the list of supplier networks. Users of EGS solutions can now import merchandise/products from the eSysco website provided that they are clients of the said supplier network.

New search feature in CALCMENU Web
  In its goal to provide user-friendly features, EGS developed a special search feature to help you find the merchandise, recipe or menu that you are looking for in CALCMENU Web. Did you mean is EGS’ tool to check the spelling of our query. It allows you to generate better search results using an alternative spelling of your query. If the term you are searching for does not match any merchandise, recipe or menu, this tool will provide you with up to five possible terms which sound like your query. For example, you typed “cinamon”, Did you mean will list “Cinnamon”.

Do your inventories in CALCMENU Web!
You can now do your inventories online with the Inventory Management in CALCMENU Web. The Inventory Management feature allows you to prepare inventories for a specific location or any other criteria such as slow-/non-moving items, product groups, etc. What’s great about this feature is that you can export your inventory in Excel. Once in Excel, you can easily encode inventory quantities and then import the file back to CALCMENU Web. You can update your inventory records fast and efficiently.

Although CALCMENU Web handles products from multiple sites, you can still monitor your inventories accurately. You don’t have to worry that other site users may see inventory records of other sites in the System. In CALCMENU Web, only the supervisor/administrator is allowed to see inventory details of all sites while a normal user will see inventory details from his own site only.

Import Products from Pistor in CALCMENU and F&B Control
  EGS, in its goal to lessen time spent in manual encoding of items in its solutions, has developed a feature which lets users import merchandise/products from supplier network Pistor. Pistor is a Swiss company which distributes a wide selection of food products and CALCMENU Pro / Enterprise and F&B Control users can now import Pistor product lists with their own prices. The product list is available in French and German. Note that you must be a client of Pistor to enable to export merchandise/product from their Web site.

Recipe Label Printing Now Available in CALCMENU
  EGS announced that the Label Printing tool is now also available in CALCMENU Pro / Enterprise. This tool is developed to answer the needs of the foodservice industry in branding their products. . It is also developed in compliance to various laws regarding food labeling which require that all the necessary information of the product should be displayed. Food label is the most important marketing material that can promote your product so it is important that you have the Label Printing tool in your CALCMENU.

Export Menu Plan to Excel
  EGS has developed a tool in CALCMENU Pro / Enterprise that can export menu plans to Excel. This tool exports menu plan data to Excel file format which can include your company’s logo. Exporting menu plan to Excel can be done on a daily or weekly basis. You can display menu items of a selected day or week in just a few clicks on the mouse. You can save time and effort since you can modify menu plan details in Excel and you can also print it for review, distribution, etc.

When the menu plan is exported, Menu Plan details are displayed in two columns, the first column is in the original language while the second column is in the second language (or translation). If the menu plan is exported daily, your company’s logo is included in the Excel file.

Learn how to work with EGS Programs
  EGS announced that How-To documents are now available for download. Learn how to work with CALCMENU Pro / Enterprise and F&B Control by using the How-To documents. How-To documents are step-by-step instructional guides that explain how to use the different features and how to improve usage in EGS programs. Find how to do a specific transaction or record data by downloading the How-To document that you need. With the How-To documents, you can easily learn specific tasks in EGS programs. You can also save time and lessen errors while working with EGS programs since you are guided in every step with procedures and images.

How-To documents can be accessed and downloaded by going to the EGS Web site. The How-Tos page will display all available How-To documents for each program.

Manage Media Files in CALCMENU Web
  Attaching images, video, audio, and other media files can now be done in CALCMENU Web. The Media Management feature allows users to upload and attach files to merchandise, recipes and menus. A media file can be any file related to items in CALCMENU Web. You may attach a PowerPoint presentation, Word, Excel, or PDF files which have additional information about the merchandise, recipe, or menu. With Media Management, users can view files associated with an item such as health benefits of merchandise, cooking techniques, information on alternative ingredients, etc. For example, you may upload a video about cooking a recipe. The video will allow other users to learn techniques and tips in cooking the recipe. It makes it easier for them to know how to cook the recipe through visual presentation.

Standardize Recipe Layout in CALCMENU Web
  Users of CALCMENU Web can now standardize the layout of recipes through Procedure Templates. Procedure Template provides a structure for recipe procedures. It facilitates the layout and promotes consistency among procedures. A Procedure Template may have Sections which pertain to the parts of the recipe procedure such as preparation, cooking method, serving instructions, etc.

Assign a Printer for each Report in F&B Control
  EGS developed a new feature in F&B Control which allows users to assign a printer to use when printing a specific report. You can set a default printer for printing inventory, sales, products, purchase orders, and other reports in the program. This is very useful if there are several printers available in your company. For example, you can set reports which include business graphics, such as company logo, to be printed in full color using Printer A while reports in black and white will be printed in Printer B. Setting default printers can also be used to assign the printing of data-heavy reports like Sales and Issuance List, Product List, and Stock Summary to high-speed laser printers instead of inkjets.

Auto-numbering Available in CALCMENU Web
  EGS developed the Auto-numbering feature for CALCMENU Web. This feature is created to number merchandise, recipes, and menus quickly and accurately. It provides consecutive and standardized numbers which is helpful in record keeping. Auto numbering prevents you from assigning random numbers to items. Activate this feature to automatically assign numbers to each created merchandise, recipe and menu. You can specify a prefix and number configuration to use.

Manage Pictures in CALCMENU Web
Pictures used for merchandise, recipes, and menus in CALCMENU Web can now be saved in a backup file. EGS developed the Pictures Management feature to create backup of pictures. You can now backup your pictures used in CALCMENU Web which is very important to prevent loss of images in events which are out of your control such as viruses, software corruptions, hardware failure, etc. You only need to specify a filename and where to save the backup. Click a button and CALCMENU Web will automatically create a backup of your pictures.

Updates in F&B Control's Sales Module
EGS put several changes to the Sales Module in F&B Control. On the POS Toolbar, the Product Group and Barcode buttons are added. The Product Group button allows you to manage groups quickly without leaving the Sales item list dialog box. The Barcode button allows you to assign multiple barcodes on a single sales item.

You can now also filter sales items through the Sorting option which filters sales items for output. You can sort sales items by Number, Name or Location. This makes it easier for you to view search results of sales items.

Manage Users in a Classroom Setup with CALCMENU Web
  Hospitality institutions using CALCMENU Web in their curriculum can now manage information about their students within the program. The Manage Student feature is specifically designed for a Teacher-Student setting. An account can be created for each student, including uploading the student’s picture, which represents a Site in CALCMENU Web.

This feature allows culinary teachers to identify Students as individual Sites which is similar to branches in a chain of hotels or restaurants. Students can be grouped for projects and homework or they can be assigned individual tasks using CALCMENU Web. It makes it easier for teachers to gauge how well each student learned the lessons. By giving each student individual accounts in CALCMENU Web, it allows them to manage their own merchandise, recipe, menu, set of price, and other information. This helps them to be equipped with proper knowledge on how recipe management works in the real world of food industry.

Updates in Menu Plans in CALCMENU Pro/Enterprise
  EGS developed new tools in CALCMENU Pro / Enterprise to make managing of menu plans easier. A new option is added to use a Menu Plan as template for other menu plans. The Template option allows you to use the structure of a Menu Plan as a pattern for other menu plans. You need to specify a date range and all the dates will have the same meals, proposals, items, etc. like those in the template. With the Template tool, you will know how your menu looks and you can choose which template applies to the menu you will be creating at a lesser time.

You can now also archive menu plans. By selecting the Archive check box, you can flag a menu plan as archived. Archived menu plans can be included or excluded in displaying the Menu Plan List.

Recover Passwords in CALCMENU Web
  CALCMENU Web now has a password recovery feature to assist users who were not able to remember their passwords. If you have lost or forgotten your password, just click the Forgot your password? button on the Sign In dialog box. Type your username and click the Send Email button. EGS will automatically send you an e-mail containing your password.

Output sold items automatically in F&B Control
  You can now output sold items automatically in F&B Control. Just select the option Output sold items automatically in the Options and Preferences. Everytime an item is sold, its quantity will be instantly deducted from Stock, making it easier for you to record and to maintain an updated inventory.

Upload more pictures in CALCMENU Web
  Users of CALCMENU Web can now assign up to five pictures to merchandise, recipes, and menus. The latest version of CALCMENU Web provides five boxes to upload the pictures. The picture saved in the first box will be the image displayed in the Details view. A recipe may have different styles of plating or a user may want merchandise to be displayed in different views (top, bottom, side, etc.). This latest development in CALCMENU Web answers these needs.

Label Printing using Delivery Receipts in F&B Control
  EGS has developed a way to use the Delivery Receipt feature in F&B Control to print labels for products and finished goods. With just a few clicks, you can easily create and print labels upon receipt of the items. You may decide where to assign the labels, whether on the product itself, its packaging or transportation unit.

New tabs in the Purchase Order List in F&B Control
  The Purchase Order List in F&B Control now has two tabs for segregating purchase orders. The My purchase orders tab displays the list of Purchase Orders created by the current user. The All orders tab displays the list of Purchase Orders created by all users of the program. The names of the users who created the Purchase Orders are also visible in this tab.

New options when Creating Requisitions in F&B Control
  When creating Requisitions in F&B Control, you can now assign if the requisition could be made public to other users. A check box called Visible to other users is provided to allow other users to view the requisition. Meantime, another checkbox, Use product’s default location, when selected, will assign the default location of the product as the location to which the requested item will be added or received.

Spell Checker available in CALCMENU Web
  CALCMENU Web now has a Spell Checker. Use the Spell Checker to eliminate spelling errors of your recipe procedures, notes, titles, descriptions, remarks, etc. so you can worry about more on important things. EGS provides 34 dictionaries and you can use any of these languages to spell check contents in your CALCMENU Web. The languages available are: English, French, German, Afrikaans, Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, and Hebrew.

  Keep track of the pages you have navigated in CALCMENU Web. The Breadcrumbs feature provides trails of the visited pages and allows you to follow it back to the starting point. It offers shortcut links so you could “jump” to previously visited pages without using the Back key.

Recipe Creation Made Easier in the Latest CALCMENU
  EGS developed an easier way of creating recipes in CALCMENU Chef/Pro/Enterprise and Web. The Advanced Fast Recipe Encoding feature is now available in the latest version. This is an additional tool to facilitate recipe encoding. This feature allows you to create recipes with less time. Before, you need to use existing merchandise in the Merchandise List as recipe ingredients. Now, you can cut and paste recipes from sources such as Web sites and other electronic documents and insert the information in CALCMENU in just a few clicks. You can type the recipe in Text format (just as you would type in MS Word) and save it that way. If you need to calculate the food cost, nutrient values, or create a shopping list, you then need to link the ingredients to the Merchandise List.

EGS Solution 2008 is Now Available!
EGS is proud to announce the release of EGS Solution 2008, the latest CALCMENU Chef 2008, CALCMENU Pro 2008, CALCMENU Enterprise 2008, and F&B Control. New features are added to the CALCMENU editions for better recipe management such as the Advanced Recipe Encoding where you can create recipes in just a few mouse clicks, new user rights and search options.

EGS Exhibits the Latest CALCMENU Web and TCPOS in IGEHO 2007
EGS will showcase the latest CALCMENU Web 2007 in the IGEHO Expo on November 17-21, 2007 in Switzerland. This CALCMENU Web 2007 is the perfect solution for centralized recipe management and distribution to multiple outlets/branches through a customized and simplified interface called “kiosk”. With the kiosk, any employee of the food company with basic computer skills may search, browse, and print recipes and labels with ease. Search results could be filtered by recipe names, pricing, keywords, etc. Also, a complete solution will be introduced for the foodservice industry. Healthy Cooking Made Easy
EGS has enhanced its CALCMENU Web with a new feature that allows users to specify Guideline Daily Amounts or GDA. GDA is the total amount of energy and nutrients that a typical adult should achieve in a day. It is a guide to the amount of calories, protein, fat, carbohydrates, salt, and sugar that comprises a healthy diet. In CALCMENU Web, GDA fields are available for Energy, Protein, Fat, Carbohydrates, and other nutrients. You can select which nutrients you want to include in the GDA list and identify the standard GDA values for each nutrient in the Configuration tool. GDA values can be viewed in the Details page of the merchandise, recipe, and menu. You also have the option to include GDAs in printing. In the growing health-conscious population, providing GDAs assists consumers’ choices in what food to buy and cook. GDAs promote better understanding on how different foods contribute in achieving a healthier diet and it makes it easy to see at a glance key information about the nutrients of a food item.
Maximize Profit by Making Wise Price Decisions
The next version of F&B Control will now have the Purchasing Price Management feature. Purchasing Price Management allows users to maintain and update pricing data and analyze price history of products. This feature records price changes from Suppliers, which directly helps the Purchasing operation. Based on your configuration of each product, F&B Control will automatically select either the default or the cheapest supplier for each product added to a requisition. Effectively making price decisions is the most vital tool in maximizing revenues and profits. Simplify the Sales Process with the Online Ordering System
Online Ordering allows food companies and its customers transact business through the Internet. Food companies can post their sales items (finished good or prepared meals) on the Web and site visitors can order from the available list posted. Once an order is placed, it automatically creates a sales order request in F&B Control. This sales order will be processed and the ordered item will be delivered to the customer. This system greatly simplifies the sales process, providing you a way to easily post your food items on a Web site and lets your clients conveniently place their orders. You also save time since there is no need to encode sales orders anymore, Online Ordering does it for you.
Print Food Labels with EGS Products
Users can now print food labels of finished goods in CALCMENU, F&B Control, and CALCMENU Web. These labels identify the composition of the food and inform consumers about the nutritional values of each finished good. EGS customizes these food labels according to the client's requirements. Other information such as price, barcode, production and expiration dates, and note (to describe storage procedures) can be added to the label.
Manage Allergens in CALCMENU
CALCMENU and CALCMENU Web enable users to manage allergens in food products. With this tool, users are able to specify merchandise that may cause an allergy to an individual such as milk, shellfish, nuts, etc. An allergen keyword will be assigned to a recipe or menu if it uses an item which is an allergen. Managing allergens prevents food service professionals from preparing a meal which a customer is allergic to.
CALCMENU Web 2007 Launched
EGS has launched CALCMENU Web 2007, a major upgrade of its CALCMENU Web application. CALCMENU Web 2007 uses the latest technology in Web development, the AJAX technology. With AJAX technology, a Web page does not refresh everytime an action is taken, providing faster access to information. When a user updates the content of an active Web page, requests for a change, retrieves data, browse pictures, or updates a field, CALCMENU Web 2007 will update itself off the server without reloading the entire screen.
EGS to release a CALCMENU and F&B Control Version Compatible with Vista
EGS is set to release a version of CALCMENU and F&B Control which is compatible with Vista. Vista is the latest operating system from Microsoft. This CALCMENU and F&B Control version will be launched following the availability of Vista in the market. The date of release of this version will depend on the release of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2.

EGS is set to launch CALCMENU Web 2007, a major upgrade of its CALCMENU Web application. EGS is committed to provide state of the art applications using the latest technologies at all times. The recent launching by Microsoft of the Atlas/Ajax technology prompted EGS to provide an improved version of CALCMENU Web 2006. The CALCMENU 2007 version will include numerous interactivity improvements such as limiting page refresh and providing a faster access to information. This is a Web application that has a close look and feel of a Windows application.
CALCMENU Web Users to be Able to View Sub-Recipe Details
EGS today announced the development of another helpful function in CALCMENU Web which allows you to see the ingredients comprising a sub-recipe in the details view of a recipe. Viewing details of a sub-recipe can be done in two ways. The first one is by clicking the name of the sub-recipe to view its details. This will go to the page displaying the details view of the sub-recipe. You can see the sub-recipe's ingredients and original yield. This also allows you to edit a sub-recipe. The second way is by clicking the button beside the sub-recipe. It will open another window where you can view the list of ingredients of the sub-recipe.
EGS to release a CALCMENU Web Version Compatible with Vista

It also allows you to import sales items directly from your point of sales system or POS, making your job easier in sales management.
